Join us as we take a step back in time to stroll along historic Dearing Street enjoying the warmth and hospitality of our hosts and their festively decorated homes. Each home will feature a selection of hors d’oeuvres, desserts and wines from area chefs, including Cecilia’s Cakes, Epting Events, home.made, Marti’s at Midday, The National and Shiraz Fine Wines & Gourmet.

Proceeds from the tour will benefit the Heritage Foundation’s efforts to advocate for preservation of historic buildings, neighborhoods and heritage.
Attendees and others interested may also purchase raffle tickets to further support the Foundation. Raffle items include works from local artists, tickets to cultural events, and R.E.M. memorabilia.

Oconee Hill Cemetery Walking Tour

Established in 1856, this scenic riverside cemetery is the final resting place for Confederate generals, football heroes, national leaders, and musicians. Join Historian Charlotte Marshall as she evokes the storied past of Athens’ former citizens and the beautifully distinctive tombstones which memorialize them. The tour also includes the recently-renovated c. 1880 Sexton’s House. Sponsored by the Athens-Clarke Heritage Foundation. For more information, call 706-353-1801.

Directions and Parking
The Oconee Hill Cemetery is located on East Campus Road, across from Sanford Stadium at The University of Georgia. Enter at Cemetery Street and turn left. Park in the grass to the left of the Sexton’s House and meet your tour guide on the front porch.
